Privacy Policy
What we collect when you visit codebrewers.org or send us an enquiry, who else gets to see it, and how to have it removed.
This policy explains, in plain terms, what happens to personal information on this website. We keep the amount we collect small on purpose: an enquiry form, standard web analytics and an advertising pixel. We do not sell personal information to anyone.
Who we are
CodeBrewers (“we”, “us”) is a technology company based in Paramaribo, Suriname. We design, build, secure and support websites, custom software and IT infrastructure for businesses in Suriname and the wider Caribbean.
For anything in this policy, including requests about your own data, write to info@codebrewers.org or call +597 811-0509.
What this policy covers
This policy applies to codebrewers.org and the direct ways you contact us from it — the enquiry form, email, phone and the WhatsApp button. It does not cover the systems we build or manage for our clients; those are governed by our agreement with that client, as described in section 11.
Information you give us
The enquiry form on this site asks for your name, email address and a description of what you need, and optionally your company and phone number. You choose what to put in the message field, so please do not include anything sensitive there — passwords, credentials or system details are better shared once we are in touch properly.
When you submit the form it is delivered to our mailbox by FormSubmit, a third-party form relay, so the contents pass through its servers on the way to us. If you email, call or message us on WhatsApp instead, we hold whatever you send us in the normal course of that conversation. WhatsApp messages are carried by WhatsApp itself, which is part of Meta.
Information collected automatically
Like almost every website, this one records some technical information whenever a page loads:
- Server logs. Our hosting provider records requests to the site — IP address, the page requested, the time, the browser and operating system you used, and the page you came from. These logs exist to keep the site running and to investigate abuse.
- Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used in aggregate: which pages people read, roughly where visitors are, which devices they use, and which links brought them here. It uses cookies and reports to Google on our behalf.
- Meta Pixel. We run the Meta Pixel so we can measure whether our Facebook and Instagram advertising works, and so Meta can show our ads to people who have visited this site. It tells Meta that a browser loaded a page here.
- Fonts and icons. Our typefaces load from Google Fonts and our icons from the jsDelivr CDN. Because your browser fetches those files directly, Google and jsDelivr receive your IP address and browser details as part of that request.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small files a site stores in your browser. We do not use them to log you in or to remember a shopping basket — there is nothing to log into here. The ones this site sets come from the two measurement tools above:
You can clear or block these at any time in your browser settings, and most browsers let you refuse third-party cookies outright. Doing so does not break anything on this site. Google also publishes a browser add-on that opts you out of Google Analytics everywhere, and Meta lets you limit ad personalisation in your Facebook or Instagram ad preferences.
How we use information
We use what we collect to answer your enquiry and quote on the work, to keep the site secure and working, to see which pages and services people actually care about, and to judge whether our advertising is worth running. That is the whole list. We do not build profiles for sale, and we do not send marketing newsletters from this site.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, our legal grounds are: your request and our pre-contract dealings with you, for enquiries; our legitimate interest in a secure, working website, for server logs; and your consent, where consent is required for analytics and advertising cookies.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with the service providers that make this site work, and only as far as they need it:
- FormSubmit — relays enquiry form submissions to our mailbox.
- Google — Google Analytics, and the Google Fonts your browser loads.
- Meta — the Meta Pixel, and WhatsApp if you message us there.
- Our email and hosting providers — who store the site and the mail it generates.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights, our clients or the safety of others. We never sell personal information, and we do not pass your enquiry details to anyone else for their own marketing.
Where your data is processed
We are in Suriname, but the providers above operate internationally, mainly in the United States and Europe. Using this site therefore involves your information being transferred outside Suriname and outside your own country, and being handled under the laws that apply there.
How long we keep it
Enquiries and the correspondence that follows stay in our mailbox and records for as long as we may reasonably need them for the relationship and for our own books. Analytics and advertising data are held by Google and Meta for the periods set on our accounts with them; we keep no separate copy. Ask us to delete your enquiry and we will, unless we are required to keep it.
Your choices and rights
Whoever you are and wherever you live, you can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it — email info@codebrewers.org and we will deal with it. For visitors covered by the GDPR, those are your rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and data portability, along with the right to withdraw consent and to complain to your national data protection authority.
For the tracking specifically, the fastest routes are your browser's cookie controls, Google's opt-out add-on, and Meta's ad preferences — all described in section 5.
Systems we build for clients
Much of our work involves websites, applications and networks that belong to our clients and hold their customers' data. In that work we act on our client's instructions as their service provider, not as the owner of that data. This policy does not govern it — the client's own privacy notice does. If you are trying to reach a company whose system we built, contact that company directly; we will pass a request on if you are stuck, but we cannot open or change their records on your behalf.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, access to our mail and hosting accounts is limited to the people who need it and protected by strong authentication, and we keep what we collect to a minimum so there is less to lose. No system is perfectly secure and we cannot guarantee the security of information while it is in transit to us, but if something does go wrong with data we hold, we will deal with it promptly and tell the people affected where that is the right thing to do.
Children
This site is aimed at businesses and the people who run them. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, tell us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
When we change the tools we use or the way we handle information, we update this page and change the date below. If a change materially affects you, we will make that clear rather than quietly editing the text.
